Requirements
Industrial designers shall meet the following competence criteria and shall demonstrate fulfilment by maintaining documentation evidences of the following:
- minimum academic qualification of a recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or an equivalent design discipline; i.e Bachelor’s Degree in Art And Design;
- minimum of 5 years practical working experience in industrial design-related industry;
- minimum academic qualification of a recognized Diploma in Industrial Design or an equivalent design discipline; i.e Diploma in Art And Design; with minimum of 10 years practical working experience in industrial design-related industry;
- professional credentials or recognition; national or international level;
- demonstrated skills; industrial designers shall prepare and produce a portfolio of evidence of work experience; and
- commercially produced products.
Additional Requirements
- When requested by an evaluation committee, industrial designers shall provide evidence of professional experience or equivalent i.e. combination of education and experience in specific design sectors.
- When requested by an evaluation committee, industrial designers shall have at least one Industrial Design/Patent/Trademark/Copyright application filed in any Intellectual Property Office in Malaysia or any other country as an applicant or author (designer) of the design.
- This documented information shall be recorded, validated, controlled and maintained.
